Cechy adaptacji filmowej powieści fantasy J. K. Rowling „Harry Potter i Kamień Filozoficzny”. Analiza na podstawie filmu „Harry Potter i Kamień Filozoficzny” w reżyserii Chrisa Columbusa

Niniejsza praca jest poświęcona analizie adaptacji filmowej powieści J. K. Rowling „Harry Potter i Kamień Filozoficzny” w reżyserii Chrisa Columbusa. Celem badań było określenie stopnia wierności adaptacji wobec literackiego pierwowzoru oraz zbadanie mechanizmów wpływających na ostateczny kształt dzieła. Rozdział pierwszy stanowi wprowadzenie teoretyczne, autorka omawia historię kina, definicję i gatunki filmu oraz specyfikę adaptacji filmowej. W rozdziale drugim zaprezentowano fenomen Harry’ego Pottera w skali światowej, biografię J. K. Rowling oraz popularność serii. Rozdział trzeci zawiera opis metodologii, celów badawczych i charakterystykę materiału źródłowego, czyli powieści oraz filmu. W rozdziale czwartym przeprowadzono szczegółową analizę porównawczą, obejmującą bohaterów, fabułę, czas i miejsce akcji oraz środki audiowizualne. Wyniki badań wskazują, że adaptacja Columbusa zachowuje wysoki stopień wierności względem powieści, przy jednoczesnym wprowadzeniu uproszczeń, takich jak redukcja wątków pobocznych i zmiana tempa narracji.

This thesis focuses on the film adaptation of J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, directed by Chris Columbus. Its aim was to examine the degree of fidelity between the film and its literary source, as well as to identify adaptation mechanisms that shaped the final work. The first chapter provides a theoretical framework, discussing the history of cinema, the definition and genres of film, and the specificity of film adaptations. The second part explores the global phenomenon of Harry Potter, presenting J. K. Rowling’s biography and the worldwide popularity of the series. The third chapter outlines the methodology, research objectives and source material, including both the novel and the film. Last part offers a comparative analysis of characters, plot, time and space, as well as the audiovisual means used in the adaptation. The results show that Columbus’s adaptation remains highly faithful to the novel, while introducing simplifications such as the reduction of secondary plots and changes in narrative tempo.
