Praca poświęcona jest analizie wpływu transformacji ustrojowej 1989 roku na przestrzeń warszawskiego osiedla Mariensztat. Prezentuje oddziaływanie przemian ustrojowych na społeczną i materialną tkankę tego historycznego obszaru Warszawy. Przeprowadzone badanie wpisuje się w szeroki kontekst socjologii miasta. Pierwszy rozdział pracy zawiera teoretyczne podstawy dotyczące socjologii przestrzeni miejskiej, społecznego wytwarzania przestrzeni, procesu gentryfikacji, genius loci, tożsamości społecznej oraz kapitału społecznego i kulturowego. Przedstawione teorie tworzą fundament dla dalszych analiz empirycznych. W rozdziale drugim omówiono zjawisko transformacji ustrojowej, głównie w kontekście społecznym oraz przedstawiono historię osiedla Mariensztat. W rozdziałach kolejnych przedstawiono metodologię badań przeprowadzonych na Mariensztacie. Zastosowane metody badawcze obejmują wywiady pogłębione z mieszkańcami, analizę dokumentów oraz obserwację. Badania umożliwiły zgromadzenie danych niezbędnych do zrozumienia dynamiki zmian społecznych i przestrzennych zachodzących na osiedlu po 1989 roku, w wyniku transformacji ustrojowej. Zidentyfikowano kluczowe zmiany w strukturze społecznej mieszkańców, formach użytkowania przestrzeni oraz symbolice miejsca. Transformacja przyczyniła się do zjawisk takich jak gentryfikacja, co w konsekwencji wpłynęło na zmianę charakteru społecznego osiedla oraz jego tożsamości.

The work is dedicated to analyzing the impact of the 1989 systemic transformation on the space of the Mariensztat housing estate in Warsaw. It presents the influence of political changes on the social and material fabric of this historic area of Warsaw. The conducted study fits into the broader context of urban sociology. The first chapter of the work contains theoretical foundations concerning the sociology of urban space, the social production of space, the process of gentrification, genius loci, social identity, and social and cultural capital. The presented theories form the basis for further empirical analyses. The second chapter discusses the phenomenon of systemic transformation, mainly in the social context, and presents the history of the Mariensztat estate. The following chapters present the research methodology applied to Mariensztat. The research methods used include in-depth interviews with residents, document analysis, and observation. The studies enabled the collection of data necessary to understand the dynamics of social and spatial changes occurring in the estate after 1989 as a result of the systemic transformation. Key changes in the social structure of residents, forms of space usage, and the symbolism of the place were identified. The transformation contributed to phenomena such as gentrification, which consequently influenced the social character and identity of the estate.
