Francuski lekarz i marokańscy czarownicy. Dziwna historia doktora Emile’a Mauchamp i jego „Czarów w Maroku”

The present paper describes the strange story of Émile Mauchamp, a French doctor stoned by a crowd of Moroccans in Marrakesh, in March 1907, and his notes on Moroccan sorcery, published posthumously as Sorcellerie au Maroc (1911). The reasons of this cruel death (used as a pretext for the French army to invade the country) are not known, but the murder may have been related to doctor’s interest in Moroccan sorcery and his profound disdain for Moroccans and their believes.
