International Trade from EU perspective – Terminological Work for IATE database

Niniejsza praca przedstawia opracowanie 97 polskich terminów, które powstały na podstawie 75 terminów angielskich. Wszystkie terminy są powiązane z handlem międzynarodowym ze względu na wagę tego zagadnienia we współczesnych czasach. Praca powstała we współpracy z Dyrekcją Generalną Komisji Europejskiej ds. Tłumaczeń Pisemnych. Składa się ona z siedmiu rozdziałów. Pierwsze cztery rozdziały stanowią omówienie teorii związanych z pracą terminologiczną, w tym charakterystyki terminologii jako dziedziny lingwistyki, historii terminologii, typów terminów oraz specyfiki pracy terminologów w Komisji Europejskiej. Rozdział piąty opisuje szczegółowy proces mojej współpracy z terminologiem wewnętrznym z Komisji Europejskiej, która miała miejsce od maja 2025 r. do grudnia 2025 r. Z kolei rozdział szósty przedstawia tabelę wraz z rezultatem tejże współpracy tj. terminami oraz ich definicjami. Natomiast rozdział siódmy obejmuje analizę terminów oraz ich ocenę. Wszystkie terminy wraz z interaktywną bibliografią są dostępne w unijnej bazie terminologicznej IATE.

This Master’s thesis presents an overview of 97 Polish terms developed from the original 75 English terms. All these terms are related to the domain of international trade due to the importance of this subject in the current age. This thesis was created in collaboration with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation. This thesis consists of seven chapters. The first four chapters describe theory related to terminological work, including the characteristics of terminology as a subfield of linguistics, the history of terminology, and the description of terminological work at the European Commission. The fifth chapter describes in larger detail the process of my collaboration with the internal terminologist from the European Commission, which occurred from May 2025 to December 2025. As for the sixth chapter, it presents a table with the results of said collaboration, i.e. terms and their definitions. Their analysis and evaluation are presented in seventh chapter. All terms along with an interactive bibliography are available in the IATE database.
