Praca przedstawia problematykę rozpadu rodziny we współczesnym teatrze na przykładzie analizy spektaklu To wiem na pewno w reżyserii Iwony Kempy. Przybliża ona kulturoznawcze, socjologiczne i historyczne ujęcie relacji rodzinnych, by zwrócić następnie uwagę na kwestię komunikacji pomiędzy jej członkami oraz jej wizerunek w polskiej kulturze współcześnie. Rozważania dotyczące postaci matki w rodzinie jako czynnika destabilizującego więzi rodzinne w dramatach współczesnych są wstępem do części głównej pracy – analizy pod tym kątem spektaklu To wiem na pewno na podstawie dramatu Andrew Bovella. Skupia się ona na przedstawieniu relacji rodzinnych łączących bohaterów dramatu, ich sposobu komunikacji oraz czynników doprowadzających do rozpadu rodziny i nadziei na jej ponowne połączenie.

The work presents the issue of family breakdown in contemporary theatre on the example of the analysis of the play Things I Know To Be True directed by Iwona Kempa. It brings closer the cultural, sociological and historical perspective of family relations in order to draw attention to the issue of communication between its members and its image in contemporary Polish culture. Reflections on the figure of the mother in the family as a destabilizing factor of family ties in contemporary dramas are a prelude to the main part of the thesis – an analysis from this point of view of the play Things I Know To Be True based on the drama of Andrew Bovell. It focuses on the presentation of the family relationships that unite the characters of the drama, their way of communication and the factors that lead to the break-up of the family and the hope for its reunion.
