Pracoholik w depresji i roszczeniowe pielęgniarki. Hegemonia klasy średniej w polskim dyskursie psychologicznym w latach 1989-2004

Celem pracy jest krytyczna analiza dyskursu psychologicznego z perspektywy problematyki klas społecznych. W pracy badam przede wszystkim dyskusje toczone na łamach prasy w dziennikach (,,Gazeta Wyborcza”), tygodnikach publicystycznych (,,Wprost”, ,,Polityka”) i specjalistycznych (,,Charaktery”) oraz tezy stawiane w popularnych publikacjach psychologicznych (między innymi autorstwa Jacka Santorskiego), stawiając pytanie o uwikłanie dyskursu psychologicznego w ideologię neoliberalną. Praca podzielona jest na trzy rozdziały. W pierwszym rozdziale sprawdzam, czy dyskurs psychologiczny w omawianym okresie służył jako narzędzie naturalizowania nierówności klasowych. W drugim rozdziale analizuję reprezentacje depresji przez pryzmat ich upłciowienia i uklasowienia, aby pokazać jak stopniowo ze schorzenia ,,przegranych transformacji” staje się ona problemem klasy średniej. W trzecim rozdziale przyglądam się natomiast pracoholizmowi, aby pokazać jak dyskurs na jego temat ogniskuje w sobie centralne problemy dla okresu polskiej transformacji takie jak wysokie bezrobocie i nieobecność klasy wyżej, której styl życia mogłyby naśladować klasy średnie. Kontekstem dla pracy jest kultura transformacji i przemiany systemu ochrony zdrowia lat 90. i wczesnych 2000.

The thesis aims to critically examine psychological discourse through the lens of social class issues. I examine discussions held in the press, including daily newspapers (Gazeta Wyborcza), opinion weeklies (Wprost, Polityka), and specialized magazines (Charaktery), as well as the arguments presented in popular psychological publications (including those by Jacek Santorski). The central question is how psychological discourse is intertwined with neoliberal ideology. The thesis is structured into three chapters. The first one explores whether psychological discourse during the period in question served as a tool for naturalizing class inequalities. The second chapter analyzes the representations of depression through the perspectives of gender and class, illustrating how it gradually shifts from being seen as a condition affecting the losers of transformation to becoming a concern of the middle class. The third chapter examines workaholism, highlighting how the discourse surrounding it reflects the central issues of the Polish transformation period, such as high unemployment and the absence of an upper class whose lifestyle could serve as a model for the middle classes. This analysis is set within the broader context of cultural transformation and the evolution of the healthcare system in the 1990s and early 2000s.
