Contemporary visual art of the third generation of Tibetan refugees in Dharamsala as an expression of identity politics (Polski tytuł: Kreowanie tożsamości na wychodźstwie. Współczesna sztuka wizualna trzeciego pokolenia tybetańskich uchodźców w Dharamsali jako wyraz polityki tożsamościowej) ma na celu zbadanie sposobów pojmowania oraz wyrażania tożsamości narodowej, kulturowej i uchodźczej przez trzecie pokolenie tybetańskich artystów w diasporze w Indiach, szczególnie w Dharamsali w północnym regionie Himachal Pradesh. Materiały wykorzystane w tej pracy to przede wszystkim wywiady i notatki terenowe sporządzone podczas badań terenowych w 2022 i 2023 roku w Dharamsali, oraz analiza wizualna prac artystycznych wybranych twórców, poparta wypowiedziami artystów. Badania prezentowane w dysertacji mają charakter nowatorski, bowiem do tej pory nie powstały prace na ten temat. Trzecie pokolenie tybetańskich uchodźców wciąż rzadko pojawia się w analizach, a sztuka współczesna najmłodszych twórców z tej grupy jest zupełnie nie przebadana.

The doctoral dissertation Displaced Identity-Making. Contemporary Visual Art of the Third Generation of Tibetan Refugees in Dharamsala as an Expression of Identity Politics (Polish title: Kreowanie tożsamości na wychodźstwie. Współczesna sztuka wizualna trzeciego pokolenia tybetańskich uchodźców w Dharamsali jako wyraz polityki tożsamościowej) aims to explore the ways in which third-generation Tibetan artists in the diaspora in India, particularly in Dharamsala in the northern region of Himachal Pradesh, understand and express national, cultural, and displaced identities. The materials used in this work primarily include interviews and field notes taken during fieldwork in 2022 and 2023 in Dharamsala, as well as a visual analysis of selected artists' artwork, supported by their statements. The research presented in this dissertation is innovative, as no studies on this topic have been published to date. The third generation of Tibetan refugees remains rarely discussed, and the contemporary art of the youngest artists in this group remains completely unexplored.
