Représenter des acteurs sociaux en discours : Eric Zemmour sur les migrants

W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono analizę wypowiedzi francuskiego polityka Érica Zemmoura na temat ograniczenia liczby wiz przyznawanych mieszkańcom Maghrebu. Analiza przeprowadzona została na podstawie kategorii zaproponowanych przez Theo van Leeuwena w jego artykule „The Representation of Social Actors” (2009). Celem pracy było ustalenie, jakich kategorii socjolingwistycznych Éric Zemmour używa do opisywania imigrantów oraz czy jego wybory leksykalne mogą potencjalnie wpływać na negatywny obraz imigrantów w debacie publicznej dotyczącej imigracji we Francji. Pierwszy rozdział zawiera teoretyczny przegląd badań nad reprezentacjami aktorów społecznych w ramach krytycznej analizy dyskursu (CDA). Następnie w rozdziale praktycznym przeprowadzona została analiza jakościowa sformułowań stosowanych przez Zemmoura. Z analizy wynika, iż imigranci przedstawieni są głównie jako grupa a nie jednostki, za pomocą strony biernej oraz określeń negatywnie ewaluujących w liczbie mnogiej. Taka reprezentacja wzmacnia negatywny obraz imigrantów, przeciwstawiając ich francuskiemu społeczeństwu.

This dissertation analyses a video of a French politician Éric Zemmour on the reduction of visas granted to candidates from Maghreb. The analysis was conducted based on the categories proposed by Theo van Leeuwen in his article “The Representation of Social Actors” (2009). This dissertation aims to establish which sociosemantic categories are used by Éric Zemmour to depict the immigrants as well as to determine whether his lexical choices contribute to a negative perception of immigrants in public discourse on immigration in France. The first chapter consists of a theoretical description of studies on the representation of social actors in Critical Discourse Analysis. The practical part consists of qualitative analysis of expressions used by Zemmour to depict immigrants. The results show that the immigrants are mostly represented as a group and not as individuals, by biased expressions in the plural, mostly in the passive voice. This representation contributes to the negative perception of immigrants in France, setting them against the French society.

Ce mémoire contient une analyse d’un discours d’Éric Zemmour, un homme politique français, sur la réduction des visas accordés aux Maghrébins. L’analyse a été menée à la base des catégories proposées par Théo van Leeuwen dans son article « Représenter des acteurs sociaux » (2009). Ce mémoire vise à examiner quelles catégories sociolinguistiques présentées par Van Leeuwen sont utilisées par Éric Zemmour pour désigner les immigrants, et, ensuite, à analyser si ses choix langagiers contribuent potentiellement à une représentation négative des immigrants dans le débat autour de l’immigration en France. La première partie contient la description théorique des recherches sur la représentation des acteurs sociaux dans le cadre de l’Analyse critique du discours. La deuxième partie enferme une analyse qualitative des expressions employées par Zemmour pour désigner les immigrants. Les résultats démontrent que les immigrants perdent leurs identités puisqu’ils sont représentés comme des groupes, passifs et évalués négativement. Cette représentation peut contribuer à une perception négative des immigrants dans le discours public en France, en les opposant aux Français.
