Le Grand Nord au féminin : la représentation des femmes dans l’écriture de Juliana Léveillé-Trudel et Tanya Tagaq

Niniejsza praca magisterska zatytułowana Daleka Północ w oczach kobiet: przedstawienie kobiet w dziełach Juliany Léveillé-Trudel i Tanyi Tagaq ma na celu analizę kobiecej perspektywy na życiowe doświaczenia Inuitów, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem realiów Kanady. Praca oparta jest na utworach Nirliit i On a tout l’automne Juliany Léveillé-Trudel oraz Split Tooth Tanyi Tagaq. Pierwszy rozdział przedstawia tło historyczno-społeczne Inuitów, rolę kobiet w tej społeczności i zarys literatury inuickiej. W drugim rozdziale analizie poddane jest twórczość Léveillé-Trudel, a mianowicie obraz kobiety inuickiej, jej otoczenia, problemów i cielesności, a także napięcia między figurą kobiety-ofiary a kobiety dążącej do emancypacji. Trzeci rozdział skupia się na spojrzeniu Tagaq – pisarki wywodzącej się ze społeczności Inuitów – na dojrzewanie, kulturę i różnice w postrzeganiu tej społeczności przez Zachód i przez samą ludność rdzenną.

The thesis entitled The Far North in women’s eyes: the representation of women in the writing of Juliana Léveillé-Trudel and Tanya Tagaq examines the feminine perspective of Inuit life, with a particular focus on Canadian realities. It is based on the works Nirliit and On a tout l’automne by Juliana Léveillé-Trudel as well as Split Tooth by Tanya Tagaq. The first chapter presents the historical and social context of the Inuit, the role of women in this community and an overview of Inuit literature. The second chapter deals with the work of Léveillé-Trudel, showing the image of the Inuit woman, her environment, her problems and her corporeity, as well as the tension between the figure of the female victim and that of the woman in search of emancipation. The third chapter focuses on the vision of Tagaq – a woman writer of the Inuit community – on maturation, culture and differences in the perception of this community by the West and the indigenous peoples themselves.

Le présent mémoire de maîtrise intitulé Le Grand Nord au féminin : la représentation des femmes dans l’écriture de Juliana Léveillé-Trudel et Tanya Tagaq examine la perspective féminine de la vie des Inuits, avec un accent particulier mis sur les réalités canadiennes. Il est basé sur les œuvres Nirliit et On a tout l’automne de Juliana Léveillé-Trudel et Split Tooth de Tanya Tagaq. Le premier chapitre présente le contexte historique et social des Inuits, le rôle des femmes dans cette communauté et offre un aperçu de la littérature inuite. Le deuxième chapitre traite de l’œuvre de Léveillé-Trudel, montrant l’image de la femme inuite, son environnement, ses problèmes et sa corporéité, ainsi que la tension entre la figure de la femme victime et celle de la femme en quête d’émancipation. Le troisième chapitre se concentre sur la vision de Tagaq – écrivaine issue de la communauté inuite – sur la maturation, la culture et les différences dans la perception de cette communauté par l’Occident et les peuples autochtones eux-mêmes.
