Filozofia zwrócona ku przedmiotom na tle wybranych stanowisk filozoficznych

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie filozofii zwróconej ku przedmiotom na tle wybranych stanowisk filozoficznych. Jest to kierunek w filozofii współczesnej powstały na przełomie XX i XXI stulecia, którego twórcą jest Graham Harman. Pracę rozpoczynam się od przedstawienia biogramów najważniejszych przedstawicieli tego nurtu. Kolejne trzy części przybliżają istotne elementy filozofii zwróconej ku przedmiotom. Pierwszą z nich poświęcam zestawieniu filozofii zwróconej ku przedmiotom z innymi sposobami rozumienia filozofii, w szczególności zaś z krytykowanymi w jej ramach stanowiskami określanymi jako podkopywanie przedmiotów i rozkopywanie przedmiotów. W części drugiej omawiam zasadniczą strukturę ontologiczną proponowaną w ramach filozofii zwróconej ku przedmiotom w wersji Grahama Harmana, czyli czterobiegunową strukturę przedmiotu. Idąc za uwagami Harmana przedstawiam ją na tle wybranych wątków z historii filozofii, poświęcając szczególną uwagę ontologiom Arystotelesa, Leibniza oraz wątkom ontologii fenomenologicznych Husserla i Heideggera. Ich myśl służy za tło historyczne propozycji ontologicznej Grahama Harmana, stanowiącej podstawę całej jego filozofii. W części trzeciej rekonstruuję rozumienie przyczynowości zaproponowane przez Harmana jako zawsze zapośredniczonej, co wynika z czterobiegunowej struktury przedmiotu. Sformułowane stanowisko przedstawiam na tle historycznych przemian rozumienia przyczynowości. Pracę zamykam próbą wpisania filozofii zwróconej ku przedmiotom w panoramę filozofii współczesnej. Każda z trzech części pracy, przybliżających istotne elementy filozofii zwróconej ku przedmiotom, posiada podobną strukturę. Zaczynam od zarysowania historycznego tła danego zagadnienia, ukazując je przez pryzmat wątków z historii filozofii istotnych dla zrozumienia stanowiska filozofii zwróconej ku przedmiotom. Następnie rekonstruuję w możliwie systematyczny sposób stanowisko tej filozofii w jej najbardziej rozbudowanej postaci, czyli w wersji zaproponowanej przez Harmana. W końcowej części ukazuję, w jaki sposób zrekonstruowane stanowisko wpisuje się w przytoczone wcześniej historyczne wątki. Każdą z trzech części zamykają uwagi dotyczące stanowiska Harmana bądź stosowanej przez niego argumentacji.

The aim of this dissertation is to present object-oriented philosophy against the background of selected philosophical standpoints. Object-oriented philosophy is a current in contemporary philosophy that emerged at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, founded by Graham Harman. The dissertation begins with biographical sketches of the most important representatives of this current. The next three sections introduce the essential elements of object-oriented philosophy. First section is devoted to the juxtaposition of object-oriented philosophy with other ways of understanding philosophy, in particular with the positions criticised within object-oriented philosophy described as undermining of objects and overmining of objects. Second section discusses the basic ontological structure proposed within Graham Harman's version of object-oriented philosophy, the fourfold structure of the object. It will be presented against the background of selected strands from the history of philosophy, following Harman's remarks, devoting particular attention to the ontology of Aristotle, Leibniz and the phenomenological ontologies of Husserl and Heidegger. Their thoughts will serve as the historical background to Harman's ontological proposal, which forms the basis of his entire philosophy. Third section reconstructs understanding of causality proposed by Harman, as always mediated, which follows from Harman's fourfold structure of the object. The formulated position will be presented against the background of historical transformations of the understanding of causality. The dissertation ends with an attempt to place object-oriented philosophy in the panorama of contemporary philosophy. Each of the main three sections of the dissertation, introducing the essential elements of object-oriented philosophy, has a similar structure. It begins by outlining the historical background of a given issue, presenting it through the prism of threads from the history of philosophy relevant to understanding the position of object-oriented philosophy. This is followed by a reconstruction, as systematically as possible, of the position of object-oriented philosophy in its most elaborated version, that is the version proposed by Harman. Finally it is shown how the reconstructed position fits into the historical themes referred earlier. Each of the three main sections concludes with comments on Harman's own position or his argumentation.
