Religious Extremism in Pakistan and Its Impact on National Security

Głównym celem niniejszej pracy jest kompleksowa analiza wydarzeń związanych z ekstremizmem religijnym, aby zrozumieć charakter i ideologię zjawiska, które rozwijało się w Pakistanie począwszy od lat 70. XX w. Kolejnym celem jest zbadanie wpływu ekstremizmu religijnego na bezpieczeństwo Pakistanu, w tym zidentyfikowanie głównych zagrożeń dla różnych aspektów tego bezpieczeństwa. Głównym przedmiotem badań jest ekstremizm religijny w Pakistanie – jego rozwój i przyczyny jego nasilenia, a także jego wpływ na bezpieczeństwo narodowe kraju. Oprócz zarysowania tła kulturowego i historycznego, a także opisu głównych ugrupowań radykalnych działających w Pakistanie, analizie poddano wszystkie istotne czynniki wewnętrzne i zewnętrzne, które miały wpływ na rozwój ekstremizmu religijnego w tym państwie. Następnie przeprowadzono analizę zagrożeń dla bezpieczeństwa politycznego, militarnego, gospodarczego, kulturowego i bezpieczeństwa obywateli w Pakistanie. Analiza obejmuje okres od 1977 r. do 2018 r.

The key purpose of the study is to thoroughly analyze the developments related to the religious extremism in order to understand the nature and ideology of the extremism emerged in Pakistan since the 1970s. Subsequently, the aim of the study is to investigate the impact of religious extremism on security of Pakistan, including defining the main threats for different dimensions of the security. The main subject of the research is religious extremism in Pakistan - its development and reasons for strengthening as well as its impact on national security of the country. Apart from outlining the cultural and historical background, and the identification of the main radical groups in Pakistan, all important internal and external factors influencing the development of the religious extremism in this state are examined. It is followed by the analysis of threats for political, military, economic, cultural and human dimensions of the Pakistani security. This research covers the period from 1977 to 2018.
