Il doppiaggio e i sottotitoli italiani della serie TV Breaking Bad: un’analisi comparata

Celem niniejszej pracy jest porównanie włoskiego dubbingu i napisów poprzez analizę i ocenę strategii tłumaczeniowych zastosowanych w pierwszym sezonie serialu Breaking Bad (2008-2013). Praca składa się z trzech części: pierwszej, o charakterze teoretycznym, poświęconej tłumaczeniu audiowizualnemu; drugiej, również teoretycznej, skupionej na strategiach tłumaczeniowych, oraz ostatniej, empirycznej, zawierającej analizę wybranych przykładów. Na potrzeby analizy wyodrębniono 34 przykłady tłumaczeń z wersji z dubbingiem i z napisami, podzielone na cztery kategorie: elementy kulturowych, wyrażenia idiomatyczne, slang oraz inne przypadki szczególne. Wybrane fragmenty zostały przeanalizowane na podstawie ram teoretycznych przedstawionych w rozdziale drugim. Ostatecznym celem pracy jest wskazanie strategii najczęściej stosowanych w obu trybach tłumaczenia audiowizualnego oraz ocena ich skuteczności.

The aim of this thesis is to compare Italian dubbing and subtitles through the analysis and evaluation of the translation strategies adopted in the first season of the TV series Breaking Bad (2008-2013). The thesis is divided into three parts: the first, theoretical in nature, dedicated to audiovisual translation; the second, also theoretical, focused on translation strategies; and finally, the empirical part, containing the analysis of selected cases. For the purposes of the analysis, 34 translation examples from both the dubbed and subtitled versions were identified and divided into four categories: culture-specific elements, idiomatic expressions, slang, and other special cases. The selected passages were analysed on the basis of the theoretical framework presented in the second chapter. The ultimate aim of the thesis is to identify the strategies most frequently used in both modes of audiovisual translation and to evaluate their effectiveness.

Lo scopo della presente tesi è confrontare il doppiaggio e i sottotitoli italiani attraverso l’analisi e la valutazione delle strategie traduttive adottate nella prima stagione della serie televisiva Breaking Bad (2008-2013). La tesi è suddivisa in tre parti: la prima, di carattere teorico, dedicata alla traduzione audiovisiva, la seconda; anch’essa teorica, incentrata sulle strategie traduttive; infine, la parte empirica, contenente l’analisi di casi selezionati. Ai fini dell’analisi sono stati individuati 34 esempi di traduzione nelle versioni doppiata e sottotitolata, suddivisi in quattro categorie: elementi culturospecifici, espressioni idiomatiche, slang e altri casi particolari. I passi scelti sono stati analizzati sulla base del quadro teorico presentato nel secondo capitolo. L’obiettivo finale della tesi è individuare le strategie più frequentemente utilizzate in entrambe le modalità della traduzione audiovisiva e valutarne l’efficacia.
