Spurs with bent-in hooked extremities have attracted researchers attention for years. They are one of the best chronological markers for the older phases of the early Middle Ages. Spurs from the West Balt Circle haven’t been studied extensively yet, and the older views became outdated, especially with regards to chronology. In the Western Balt lands this kind of spurs were found both at sites dated back to the late stage of the Migration Period and early phase of the Medieval Period. The author collected available data on previous discoveries, and an attempt to place them in a specific cultural and chronological context was made. Analysis of artefacts, their chronology proved that at least some of the finds have an older chronology than those originating from the North-Western Slavic territories and from the area south of the Carpathians.
