The goal of this bachelor’s thesis is to examine and assess the role played by the Internet and modern information technologies in the day-to-day operations of human resources (HR) departments, with particular emphasis on the specific nature of the game development industry. The aim of the thesis was to examine how the Internet affects the overall functioning of the HR department and how the widespread adoption of remote working impacts its day-to-day operations. The text discusses the theoretical aspects of human behaviour within an organisation. Among other things, the concepts of human capital and human resources were defined, and the evolution and contemporary roles of HR departments were presented, with an emphasis on their function as a strategic business partner. The impact of the Internet on internal communication was analysed, and the use of HR systems in the SaaS cloud model was discussed thoroughly. In line with the main research questions, particular attention was paid to the challenges and benefits of remote working, analysing its impact on both organisational flexibility and the necessary adjustments in the area of remote staff management. To test the research questions, qualitative research was conducted using interviews with members of the HR department at one of Poland’s game development companies. Analysis of the collected data revealed that the integration of online tools with HR processes is not only a technological innovation but also a sign of natural progress, driven by the pandemic. Developments such as the digitisation of documents and the rise of remote working have significantly redefined the role of HR departments, which is particularly evident in the innovative and tech-driven game development industry.
