Katalog Centralny wydawnictw komunistycznych Instytutu Naukowego Badania Komunizmu w Warszawie (1930–1939).
Abstrakt (EN)
During the period of the Second Republic of Poland, all governments tried to limit or eliminate the communist threat. These activities were supported by various political and social organizations in terms of ideological origins. In this context, it is worth paying attention to the activities of the Institute of Scientific Research of Communism (pl. Instytut Naukowego Badania Komunizmu INBK) in Warsaw (1930–1939), officially established for the purposes of: scientific research of communism, acquainting society with its ideology and counteracting its development by subjecting it to critical analysis. The article is an attempt to present the concept, structure, and role in the activity of INBK of the original Central Catalogue of communist publications, created by the co-founder and the actual head of the Institute, Father Antoni Wincenty Kwiatkowski (1890–1970; pseudonym Antoni Starodworski). The analysis of the preserved source materials indicates the INBK Central catalogue could potentially provide significant support to Sovietologists, specialists interested in various spheres of life in the Soviet Union, the activities of the Third Communist International, the Communist Party of Poland, etc. In fact, this did not happen, mainly because the Central catalogue could not be fully implemented due to INBK’s financial struggle and difficulties with the staff. Nevertheless, it was an interesting project, based on an original methodology.
