Wota z sanktuarium Artemidy Orthii w Sparcie, jako przejawy różnic społeczno-religijnych w okresie archaicznym i klasycznym

W ciągu niemal 1500 lat funkcjonowania sanktuarium Artemidy Orthii w Sparcie było świadkiem i przedmiotem wielu zmian. Wota, zaś są bezpośrednim świadectwem różnic społecznych i przemian religijnych jakie zachodziły w tym miejscu. Dzięki analizie wotów i umieszczeniu jej wyników w kontekście religijno-społecznym Sparty udało się lepiej zrozumieć ten unikalny kult. Ustalono m.in. możliwe pochodzenie kultu i przybliżony moment identyfikacji bogini Orthii z Artemidą. Wota odzwierciedlają również intensywne kontakty Sparty z Bliskim Wschodem i kobiecy charakter kultu w okresie archaicznym i klasycznym.

The sanctuary of Artemis Orthia in Sparta has witnessed and been the subject of many changes over the course of nearly 1,500 years. The votive offerings are a direct evidence of the social differences and religious transformations that took place there. By analysing the votive offerings and placing the results in the religious and social context of Sparta, it has been possible to better understand this unique cult. Among other things, the possible origin of the cult and the approximate moment of identification of the goddess Orthia with Artemis have been established. The votive offerings also reflect Sparta's intense contacts with the Near East and the feminine nature of the cult during the Archaic and Classical periods.
