Działalność naukowa profesora Aleksandra Gieysztora w świetle korespondencji uczonego z Ministerstwem Szkół Wyższych i Nauki oraz z Ministerstwem Szkolnictwa Wyższego z lat 1949–1958.

W swojej pracy zamierzam zinterpretować fragment spuścizny archiwalnej Aleksandra Gieysztora, obejmujący jego korespondencję z przedstawicielami Ministerstwa Szkół Wyższych i Nauki, a następnie Ministerstwa Szkolnictwa Wyższego z lat 1950–1958, by określić relację pomiędzy uczonym a wybranymi przedstawicielami szkolnictwa wyższego Polski Ludowej w tym okresie. Na podstawie powyższych dokumentów spróbuję scharakteryzować relacje pomiędzy Gieysztorem a instytucjami państwowymi nadzorującymi edukację wyższą. Przeanalizuję również ich zmieniające się podejście do naukowca. Pomocne będą w tym również dokumenty towarzyszące głównej spuściźnie, takie jak protokoły zebrań rad naukowych Wydziału Humanistycznego i Wydziału Historycznego Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego z lat 1949–1958. Pośród postawionych pytań badawczych, najważniejszym z pewnością będzie to, jak przebiegała i czym charakteryzowała się współpraca profesora Gieysztora z konkretnymi ludźmi z ministerstw szkolnictwa wyższego okresu stalinizmu oraz wczesnego okresu rządów Gomułki po 1956 r. Poruszę również problem korzystania uczonego z przedwojennymi opracowaniami historii Francji. Jego zainteresowania Uniwersytetem Wrocławskim na Ziemiach Odzyskanych, oraz wizytacja go w ramach komisji w 1951 r. również staną się przedmiotem analizy. Źródłami do tych badań będą jednostki 882 i 883 ze spuścizny profesora Aleksandra Gieysztora w Polskiej Akademii Nauk oraz przedwojenne opracowania francuskie z nimi porównane.

In my work, I intend to interpret a fragment of Aleksander Gieysztor's archival legacy, covering his correspondence with representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, and then the Ministry of Higher Education from 1950 to 1958, in order to determine the relationship between the scholar and selected representatives of higher education in People's Poland during this period. On the basis of the above documents, I will attempt to characterize the relationship between Gieysztor and the state institutions supervising higher education. I will also analyze their changing attitude towards the scholar. Documents accompanying the main legacy, such as the minutes of meetings of the scientific councils of the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of History of the University of Warsaw from 1949–1958, will also be helpful in this regard. Among the research questions posed, the most important will certainly be how Professor Gieysztor's cooperation with specific people from the ministries of higher education during the Stalinist period and the early period of Gomułka's rule after 1956 proceeded and what its characteristics were. I will also address the issue of the scholar's use of pre-war studies on the history of France. His interest in the University of Wrocław in the Recovered Territories and his visit there as part of a commission in 1951 will also be analyzed. The sources for this research will be items 882 and 883 from the legacy of Professor Aleksander Gieysztor at the Polish Academy of Sciences and pre-war French studies compared with them.
