Ostatni sojusznik na kontynencie afrykańskim – Charakterystyka stosunków dyplomatycznych Republiki Chińskiej z Królestwem Eswatini i perspektywy na przyszłość

Królestwo Eswatini to ostatnie państwo na kontynencie afrykańskim, które utrzymuje oficjalne stosunki dyplomatyczne z Republiką Chińską (Tajwanem). Pomimo rosnącej presji ze strony Chińskiej Republiki Ludowej, sojusz tych dwóch państw charakteryzuje się niespotykaną na tle innych państw w regionie stabilnością, co czyni go zjawiskiem wyjątkowym w kontekście globalnych przemian geopolitycznych. Niniejsza praca podejmuje próbę analizy charakteru tej relacji, poszukując odpowiedzi na pytanie, dlaczego Eswatini pozostaje wierne Tajwanowi w obliczu postępującej izolacji dyplomatycznej wyspy. Wykorzystując chińskojęzyczne źródła, w tym roczniki Ministerstwa Spraw Zagranicznych Tajwanu, a także dokumenty rządowe i dane międzynarodowe, w pracy przedstawiono zarówno historyczne uwarunkowania współpracy, jak i jej współczesne znaczenie. Celem jest ukazanie trwałości i specyfiki tego partnerstwa oraz wskazanie, jaką rolę pełni ono w szerszym kontekście tajwańskiej polityki zagranicznej w Afryce.

The Kingdom of Eswatini is the last country on the African continent that maintains official diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan). Despite increasing pressure from the People's Republic of China, the alliance between these two states is distinguished by a level of stability that is uncommon among other countries in the region, making it a unique phenomenon in the context of global geopolitical transformations. This study seeks to analyze the nature of this relationship by addressing the question of why Eswatini remains loyal to Taiwan amid the island’s growing diplomatic isolation. Drawing on Chinese-language sources, including yearbooks of Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as government documents and international data, the dissertation presents both the historical foundations of this cooperation and its contemporary significance. The aim of the thesis is to demonstrate the durability and specificity of this partnership and to explore the role it plays within the broader framework of Taiwan’s foreign policy in Africa.
