Jednak stanowi ona świadectwo minionej epoki a jej ochrona jest obowiązkowa. W dalszym ciągu wiele obiektów będące symbolami miast w czasie swojego powstania, są zagrożone. Takim przykładem jest hala Arena w Poznaniu wokół której były głosy popierające jej wyburzenie. Podobne zamieszanie wystąpiło wokół hali Olivia w Gdańsku oraz wokół Spodka, który dzięki reakcji Śląskiego Konserwatora Zabytków został z sukcesem wpisany do rejestru zabytków jako jeden z wymienionych w pracy przykładów. Dowodzi to na dalej panujący problem niezrozumienia architektury czasów PRL, który wymaga dalszej edukacji społecznej na jej temat w celu ochrony.

The diploma thesis deals with the topic of sports and entertainment halls of the communist era, focusing mainly on the Arena hall in Poznań in comparison with facilities built at a similar time, such as Spodek in Katowice, Stegu Arena in Opole and the Olivia hall in Gdańsk. The history of their construction up to the present day will be discussed, revealing the realities of the times in which they were built and the contemporary problems they face. The main goal of this work is to present the architecture of the Polish People's Republic as achievements worthy of recognition as monuments, testimonies to a bygone era and our heritage. To this end, the role and influence of the then-current patronage on the architectural community and their work are presented. The topic of anniversary architecture is also discussed, including the Arena hall in Poznań. An important aspect of the work is also drawing attention to the problem of conservation protection of post-war modernist buildings. The research is based on an analysis of available scholarly publications addressing post-war modernist architecture, largely focused on the Poznań area. It also includes archival and contemporary press releases such as Głos Wielkopolski and Gazeta Wyborcza as well as online articles. The analysis showed that the architecture of the Polish People's Republic was largely dependent on the centrally planned economy and subordinated to the political requirements of the socialist system. However, it is a testament to a bygone era, and its protection is mandatory. Many structures that were symbols of cities at the time of their construction are still at risk. One such example is the Arena hall in Poznań, around which there were voices supporting its demolition. Similar confusion occurred around the Olivia Hall in Gdańsk and around Spodek, which, thanks to the reaction of the Silesian Conservator of Monuments, was successfully entered into the register of monuments as one of the examples mentioned in the graduate work. This demonstrates the continuing problem of misunderstanding the architecture of the Polish People's Republic era, which requires further public education about it in order to protect it.
