Niniejsza praca stanowi komparatystyczną analizę domu jako bohatera literackiego na przykładzie powieści Złuda Carmen Laforet oraz Ciemno, prawie noc Joanny Bator. Celem pracy jest ukazanie sposobów przedstawienia przestrzeni domowej oraz jej wpływu na losy, tożsamość i doświadczenia głównych bohaterek. Wykorzystując perspektywę badań nad przestrzenią, pamięcią i symboliką domu, analiza pokazuje, że dom pełni funkcję aktywnego elementu świata przedstawionego. Jest miejscem, w którym ujawniają się trauma, pamięć oraz skutki doświadczeń historycznych i rodzinnych. Praca wskazuje również, że mimo odmiennych kontekstów kulturowych i zastosowanych konwencji literackich obie autorki przedstawiają dom jako przestrzeń kształtującą tożsamość bohaterek oraz prowadzącą je do konfrontacji z przeszłością i przemiany.

This thesis presents a comparative analysis of the house as a literary protagonist, based on the novels Nada by Carmen Laforet and Ciemno, prawie noc by Joanna Bator. The aim of the study is to examine the ways in which domestic space is represented and to explore its influence on the protagonists' lives, identities, and experiences. Drawing on perspectives from spatial studies, memory studies, and the symbolism of the house, the analysis demonstrates that the house functions as an active element of the fictional world. It is a space in which trauma, memory, and the consequences of historical and family experiences are revealed. The thesis further argues that, despite their different cultural contexts and literary conventions, both authors portray the house as a space that shapes the protagonists' identities and leads them to confront the past and undergo personal transformation.
