Dylematy tworzenia nawigatorów wyborczych na przykładzie projektów "EU Profiler" i "euandi"

Nawigatory wyborcze są internetowymi aplikacjami umożliwiającymi ocenę stopnia zbieżności pomiędzy poglądami użytkownika nawigatora a partiami politycznymi czy też indywidualnymi kandydatami. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi próbę przedstawienia podstawowych dylematów tworzenia nawigatorów wyborczych na przykładzie projektów EU Profiler i euandi, które zostały przygotowane na wybory do Parlamentu Europejskiego. Jakie dylematy stają przed twórcami nawigatorów, i co robić, aby osiągnąć satysfakcjonujące użytkowo i naukowo rezultaty? W tym kontekście autor analizuje przede wszystkim mechanizm selekcji przypadków (w tym wypadku partii politycznych), wybór i sfomułowanie stwierdzeń na podstawie których następuje kodowanie stanowisk partii politycznych oraz metodę obliczania stopnia zbieżności pomiędzy partiami a użytkownikami. Autor wskazuje, że sam proces tworzenia nawigatorów może stać się wartościową lekcją z zakresu metodologii badań społecznych, i stanowić istotny wkład w postęp naukowy.

Voting Advice Applications (VAAs) are Internet applications that allow to show the degree of match between users and parties (or candidates) on various issue positions. This paper attempts to present the central dilemmas of building VAAs on the example of EU Profiler and euandi projects, created for the elections to the European Parliament. What choices do the VAAs designers face? How to achieve satisfactory results both from the functional and scientific perspectives? In this context, the author analyzes the case selection mechanism (in this case regarding political parties), selection and formulation of statements on the basis of which the position of political parties is coded and methods of calculating the match between parties and VAA users. The author argues that the process of creating VAAs can become a valuable lesson for social research methodology and make a significant contribution to scientific progress.
