ABSTRACT Chronotopic Continuum of Alexander Pushkin’s poem The Gypsies The article attempts to outline some of the significant components of the chronotopic continuum of Pushkin’s poem The Gypsies. Bessarabia is the dominant real-geograph-ical and historical-epoch-making chronotope, which interested Pushkin in various as-pects: as the territory of “long battle” and the country of “Russian glory”, as the habitat of the “infant” people, as the keeper of poetic legends fanned by the name of Ovid, as the place of his own involuntary stay. Everything in the aggregate has contributed to the creation of a multi-structured, multi-valued and at the same time a single real-poetic time-space, where chronotopes, toposes and locuses closely interact, coexist, oppose, compare, rhyme, absorb each other, defining both the nomadic life of the gypsy camp and the fate of individual characters.
