Abstrakt (EN)
The paper summarizes some of the general tendencies within present day social, economic, political and environmental processes observed in the Polish countryside and the most important approaches of recent studies concerning changes of rural areas, written in Poland within such disciplines as rural geography, rural sociology, economic anthropology and microeconomy. Particular attention has been paid to main factors shaping transformations in the rural areas: such issues as the role of human and social capital, impacts of localization factor and the one of local natural resources. The text refers to the particular context of recent history of the Polish countryside defined by processes of political and economic transformation. The author considers that theorical bases, research tools and some of the research results concerning rural communities undergoing processes of deep, accelerated changes might be of interest of academics studying changes taking place in the Mexican countryside.
