W niniejszej pracy magisterskiej zatytułowanej Postacie kobiece w kinie francuskim i amerykańskim na podstawie filmów Anatomia Upadku w reżyserii Justine Triet i Tár w reżyserii Todda Fielda zajmujemy się zagadnieniem sposobu przedstawiania kobiecych bohaterek w kinie francuskim oraz kinie amerykańskim. Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów. W pierwszym z nich skupiamy się na przybliżeniu historii kina oraz filmu, a także zarysowaniu ewolucji historii kina francuskiego i amerykańskiego. Poznajemy także twórców kina, takich jak bracia Lumière czy Georges Méliès, którzy przez wielu uważani są za prekursorów kinematografii. Kolejny rozdział poświęcony jest roli kobiet w kinie i jego pionierkom, gdzie przybliżamy wizerunki kobiet, które były zaangażowane w przemysł filmowy od chwili jego powstawania. Kluczowe są tutaj portrety francuskiej oraz amerykańskiej reżyserki Alice Guy-Blaché oraz Lois Weber, które przyczyniły się do rozwoju kina. Wreszcie trzeci i ostatni rozdział dotyczy głównych bohaterek filmów Anatomia Upadku i Tár, gdzie analizujemy ich postacie w kontekście symboliki, władzy, seksualności, a także relacji interpersonalnych. Dochodzimy do wniosków, że percepcja kobiecych rów w kinie uległa zmianie, a współczesne kino francuskie i amerykańskie koncentruje się na ukazywaniu złożonych postaci kobiet, które znajdują się w centrum opowiadanych historii.

In this master's thesis entitled Female characters in French and American cinema based on the films “Anatomy of a Fall” directed by Justine Triet and “Tár” directed by Todd Field, we address the issue of how female characters are portrayed in French and American cinema. The thesis consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, we focus on providing an overview of the history of cinema and film, as well as outlining the evolution of French and American cinema. We also learn about filmmakers such as the Lumière brothers and Georges Méliès, who are considered by many to be the precursors of cinematography. The next chapter is devoted to the role of women in cinema and its pioneers, where we present the images of women who have been involved in the film industry since its inception. Key here are the portraits of French and American directors Alice Guy-Blaché and Lois Weber, who contributed to the development of cinema. Finally, the third and last chapter concerns the main characters of the films Anatomy of a Fall and Tár, where we analyze their characters in the context of symbolism, power, sexuality and interpersonal relationships. We conclude that the perception of female roles in cinema has changed, and that contemporary French and American cinema focuses on portraying complex female characters who are at the centre of the stories being told.
