村上春樹の『イエスタデイ』における関西弁の翻訳及びポーランド語母語話者による評価

Celem niniejszej pracy jest omówienie wad i zalet poszczególnych rozwiązań problemu przekładu dialektu Kansai w opowiadaniu “Yesterday” Harukiego Murakamiego na język polski oraz zbadanie reacji czytelników na te rozwiązania. W pierwszym rozdziale przedstawiono wybrane zagadnienia z zakresu dialektologii i translatoryki, zarys dialektu Kansai i dialektów języka polskiego, a także omówiono funkcje pełnione przez dialekt Kansai występujący w “Yesterday” oraz zidentyfikowano potencjalne problemy tłumaczeniowe mogące wystąpić w opowiadaniu. Drugi rozdział poświęcony jest metodologii części praktycznej pracy. W części praktycznej najpierw zaproponowano dwa alternatywne przekłady fragmentu “Yesterday”, potem poddano je oraz tłumaczenie Anny Zielińskiej-Elliott analizie porównawczej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wad i zalet obranych strategii tłumaczeniowych, a następnie przeprowadzono wywiady z natywnymi użytkownikami języka polskiego w celu zbadania ich opinii i przemyśleń na temat wszystkich wersji przekładu.

The aim of this study is to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different solutions to the problem of translating the Kansai dialect as it appears in the short story “Yesterday” by Haruki Murakami into Polish, and to examine readers’ reception of these solutions. The first chapter introduces selected issues in dialectology and translation studies, provides an overview of the Kansai dialect as well as various Polish dialects, discusses what function the Kansai dialect serves in “Yesterday” and attempts to identify the issues that could arise when translating the short story. The second chapter focuses on methodology of the practical part of the study. In the practical part, first, two alternative translations of an excerpt from “Yesterday” are proposed, and subsequently comparatively analysed with the translation by Anna Zielińska-Elliott, with a focus on the potential issues and gains arising from the employed translation strategies. Lastly, the results of interviews conducted among Polish native speakers are presented, exploring their opinions and thoughts on all versions of the translation.

本論の目的は、村上春樹の短編小説『イエスタデイ』における関西弁をポーランド語に翻訳するという問題に対する様々な翻訳手法の長所と短所およびその手法に対する読者の評価を検討することである。第一章では、方言学と翻訳研究における問題、および関西弁とポーランド語の方言の概要を紹介し、『イエスタデイ』において関西弁がどのような役割を果たしているかについて論じ、翻訳する際に発生しうる問題を特定する。第二章は、本論の実践部分の方法論に焦点を当てる。実践部分では、まず『イエスタデイ』の一節の翻訳を2つ提案し、次に採用された翻訳手法の長所と短所に特に注目しながら、Anna Zielińska-Elliottによる翻訳との比較分析を行う。最後に、すべての翻訳に対するポーランド語母語話者の評価および意見をインタビューを通して調べる。
