Umowa o wolnym handlu UE–Korea Południowa: przyczyny jej zawarcia i skutki dla Unii Europejskiej

Problem badawczy pracy koncentruje się na odpowiedzi na pytanie, jakie były główne powody zawarcia Umowy o wolnym handlu pomiędzy UE a Republiką Korei oraz w jakim stopniu jej obowiązywanie przełożyło się na zmiany w handlu, regulacjach i ogólnej współpracy gospodarczej. Temat został wybrany ze względu na jego znaczenie dla zrozumienia długoterminowych zmian w relacjach gospodarczych między UE a Republiką Korei. FTA UE-Korea była pierwszym pełnym i kompleksowym porozumieniem o wolnym handlu nowej generacji zawartym przez UE z państwem azjatyckim. Umowa obowiązuje już ponad dekadę, co pozwala ocenić jej skutki w dłuższej perspektywie. Celem pracy jest zrozumienie motywów, jakie kierowały stroną europejską podczas zawarcia umowy oraz identyfikacja jej najważniejszych skutków dla Unii Europejskiej, zarówno w wymiarze ekonomicznym, jak i regulacyjnym. Praca obejmuje dane handlowe, dostępne raporty oraz literaturę naukową dotyczącą integracji gospodarczej i współpracy Unii Europejskiej z Republiką Korei.

The research problem of this paper focuses on answering the question of what the main reasons were for concluding the Free Trade Agreement between the EU and the Republic of Korea, and to what extent its operation has translated into changes in trade, regulations, and overall economic cooperation. The topic was chosen due to its significance for understanding the long-term changes in economic relations between the EU and the Republic of Korea. The EU-Korea FTA was the first comprehensive and fully-fledged new-generation free trade agreement concluded by the EU with an Asian country. The Agreement has been in force for over a decade, which allows for an assessment of its effects from a longer-term perspective. The aim of the paper is to understand the motivations that guided the European side during the conclusion of the agreement and to identify its most significant effects on the European Union, both in economic and regulatory terms. The paper draws on trade data, available reports, and academic literature concerning economic integration and cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Korea.
