Kunstpatronage in Mitteleuropa zwischen Privatstiftung und Staatskunst / Artistic Patronage in Central Europe: From Private Foundations to State Art

Patronat artystyczny, na który składa się zarówno rozwinięty mecenat, jak i bardziej zróżnicowana działalność fundacyjna, jest jednym z kluczowych tematów historii sztuki. Temu zagadnieniu poświęcona jest książka opublikowana jako 12. tom serii "Das Gemeinsame Kulturerbe / Wspólne Dziedzictwo" Publikacja stanowi pokłosie 27. Konferencji Grupy Roboczej Niemieckich i Polskich Historyków Sztuki i Konserwatorów, która odbyła się w Warszawie we wrześniu 2019 roku. Zawiera ona 16 rozdziałów napisanych przez międzynarodowe grono historyków sztuki. Badane zagadnienia i problemy metodologiczne omawiane przez autorów dotyczą programów ideowych, strategii i zaplecza organizacyjnego mecenatu artystycznego, w zależności od sytuacji zleceniodawców, założycieli, mecenasów sztuki, artystów, marszandów i kolekcjonerów. Artistic patronage, which includes both systematic patronage (German Mäzenatentum; Polish mecenat) and more diverse commissioning activities, is one of the key themes of the history of art. This issue finds new presentation in a book published as 12. Volume of the "Das Gemeinsame Kulturerbe / Wspólne Dziedzictwo" Series. It presents an aftermath of the 27th Conference of the Working Group of German and Polish Art Historians and Conservators, held in Warsaw in September 2019. The book contains 16 chapters published by an international team of art historians. Researched issues and methodological problems discussed by the authors relate to the idea programmes, strategies, and organisational backstage of artistic patronage, depending on the situation of the commissioners, founders, patrons of arts, artists, art dealers, and collectors. The volume is richly illustrated and should prove interesting for a wide range of researchers and art enthusiasts.
