Rejestry i style językowe w przytoczeniu dziennikarskim jako środek budowania bliskości lub dystansu

Na wybranych przykładach pochodzących z polskich tekstów prasowych omówiono strategie mowy przytaczanej, które umożliwiają autorom – dziennikarzom i reportażystom – budowanie relacji bliskości lub zaznaczanie dystansu wobec przedstawianych aktorów społecznych, a także konstruowanie ich obrazu bez użycia komentarzy odautorskich. Analizowane formy mowy przytaczanej to mowa pozornie zależna, mowa pozornie niezależna oraz tzw. wysepki tekstowe. Są to implicytne formy przytoczenia, wymagające od odbiorcy wysiłku interpretacyjnego i umiejętności rozpoznania poszczególnych głosów tworzących tkankę tekstu: głosu narratora głównego oraz niejawnie cytowanych głosów postaci występujących w jego opowieści. W analizowanych przykładach mamy do czynienia z interesującą grą rejestrów i stylów językowych, które służą zaznaczaniu dystansu narratorów głównych wobec bohaterów reportaży, zarówno na osi poziomej (odzwierciedlającej relację emocjonalną), jak na osi pionowej (odzwierciedlającej status uczestników komunikacji).

Excerpts selected from Polish press texts have been used to exemplify strategies of reported speech that allow their authors, i.e. journalists and reporters, to create the relationship of proximity or to signal a distance towards the presented social agents, and to construct their image without making use of authorial comments. Forms of reported speech under analysis are free direct speech, free indirect speech and the so-called textual islets. These are implicit forms of citation, which require interpretive effort from the recipient and involve the ability to distinguish and identify the distinct voices which constitute the body of the text: the voice of the main narrator and the implicitly quoted voices of the characters who appear in his/her story. Analysed examples exhibit an interesting play of language registers and styles employed to indicate the main narrators’ distance towards the protagonists of their reports, both on the horizontal axis, referring to the distance vs. familiarity correlation and reflecting the emotional relation, and on the vertical axis, referring to the dominance vs. equality correlation and reflecting the status of the participants in the act of communication.
