Postać walecznej heroiny w staropolskich przekładach epiki włoskiej

Przedmiotem pracy jest motyw walecznej heroiny w staropolskich przekładach włoskiej epiki renesansowej. Celem analiz było ukazanie sposobów kreowania bohaterek przekraczających tradycyjne wzorce kobiecości oraz określenie ich funkcji w kontekście przemian kulturowych i literackich epoki renesansu. Analizie poddano wybrane postacie kobiece występujące w Orlandzie szalonym Ludovica Ariosta oraz Jerozolimie wyzwolonej Torquata Tassa, przyswojonych kulturze polskiej dzięki przekładom Piotra Kochanowskiego. W pracy wykorzystano metodę historycznoliteracką oraz interpretację uwzględniającą kontekst kulturowy i ideowy epoki. W pierwszej części omówiono antyczne i biblijne źródła wzorca kobiety aktywnej i walecznej, natomiast w części analitycznej scharakteryzowano różne modele kobiecej sprawczości reprezentowane przez bohaterki epiki włoskiej. Przeprowadzone analizy wykazały, że postacie te podważają tradycyjne stereotypy płciowe, łącząc cechy heroiczne z elementami konwencjonalnie rozumianej kobiecości, a zarazem stanowią istotny głos w renesansowej refleksji nad godnością kobiet.

The subject of this thesis is the motif of the warrior heroine in Old Polish translations of Italian Renaissance epic poetry. The aim of the study is to examine the ways in which female characters transcending traditional models of femininity are portrayed and to determine their function within the context of the cultural and literary transformations of the Renaissance. The analysis focuses on selected female characters from Orlando Furioso by Ludovico Ariosto and Jerusalem Delivered by Torquato Tasso, works introduced into Polish culture through the translations of Piotr Kochanowski. The thesis employs a historical-literary approach combined with interpretative analysis that takes into account the cultural and ideological context of the period. The first part discusses the classical and biblical sources of the model of the active and martial woman, while the analytical chapters examine various forms of female agency represented by the heroines of Italian epic poetry. The analyses demonstrate that these characters challenge traditional gender stereotypes by combining heroic qualities with elements of conventionally understood femininity, while at the same time constituting an important contribution to Renaissance reflections on the dignity of women.
