Consequences of the Pandemic and Future Management of the Company

Purpose: The pandemic which impacted the whole world has changed not only the previous notion of crisis management, but also the notion of change management in business. The coronavirus that has brought about COVID-19 illness, besides its many negative effects, has activated new roles and tasks for enterprises. New strategies’ model, both in the course of counteracting the pandemic, as well as in different areas of business management, is the requirement of this new time. Expertise and experience have become important not only for medical aspects of the making of a new vaccine but also in the sphere of cybersecurity or business continuity management. All the elements of the functioning of the state, the government administration, but primarily the business and enterprises, with the support of the expertise and modern research, must collectively take action to efficiently counteract the effects of the pandemic, but also to secure their key data and the functioning of those companies in the future. Taking into consideration the above-mentioned aspects of pandemic’s effects on business, this article contains the analysis of role and the significance of selected aspects of company management both in the course of the pandemic and in the post-pandemic period. Design/Methodology/Approach: The method of diagnostic analysis was used for the completion of this examination to define the security level and the role of management in the period of pandemic and the initial post-pandemic period, as well as predictive method, to define the shape of the organization that can be possibly designed in the future. Conclusion: The diagnostic approach of the design relies on recording the actual management of the security and processes in an enterprise, its analysis and assessment, finding elements and solutions that are incorrect or could be modified, refined and quickly improved. A new structure is proposed and designed on this basis. In the predictive approach, though, the action begins with the search of an ideal solution, allowing for the most efficient achievement of goals under the assumed conditions of pandemic and post-pandemic period. It has been stated that the management of a company, particularly in the areas of security, cybersecurity, remote work in global crisis conditions i.e. the pandemic, were not assessed by managers, which was reflected in insufficient expenditures for new technologies, learning, trainings and the upgrade of staff working conditions. The crisis induced by the pandemic clearly indicated the need of modernising the existing policies and strategies and setting new trends of flexible adjustment to the changing circumstances and to the changing reality. Originality: The article discusses the issues that are directly connected with the management of selected aspects of company lives in the period of coronavirus pandemic inducing SARS COVID-19 disease. There are not many papers referring to this area. The article refers to issues that are significant not only for the diagnosis of the real state of affairs, but also predicts activities that will be significant for companies in the future.
