“Siregetü Güüsi čorji’s Treatise that Contains the Complete Meanings of the Most Important [Buddhist Concepts] To Be Used”
Abstrakt (EN)
The chapter presents the last part of the manual of Buddhism by Siregetü Güüsi Corji entitled "Ciqula kereglegci tegüs udq-a-tu shastir". No sources were cited for this fragment, which refers to the very title of the work: ciqula kereglegci, or “the most important [data] to be used”. It is a list of Buddhist notions, sometimes accompanied by short explanations. The terminology is not always consistent, however, Siregetü Güüsi Corji’s work can be regarded as pioneering attempt of rendering so many diverse Buddhist terms in the Mongolian language, since full translation of the Kanjur (Tib. bka’ ’gyur) was completed only in 1629, while Buddhist terminological dictionaries appeared in the 18th century. It is also worth mentioning that the manual was used by Siregetü Güüsi Corji’s contemporaries as well as the next generations of Mongolian Buddhist believers until modern times.
