L’analyse comparative des stratégies et techniques de traduction des noms propres dans les versions françaises et polonaises sélectionnées de la trilogie « Le Seigneur des Anneaux » de J.R.R. Tolkien

Praca dyplomowa prezentuje strategie i techniki tłumaczeniowe zastosowane przez tłumaczy w wybranych tłumaczeniach polskich i francuskich nazw własnych w trylogii „Władca Pierścieni” autorstwa J.R.R. Tolkiena. Celem poniższej pracy jest porównanie wykorzystanych strategii i technik oraz przedstawienie występujących tendencji podczas tłumaczenia nazw własnych. Część teoretyczna, która składa się z dwóch rozdziałów, przedstawia definicję nazw własnych, ich cechy charakterystyczne oraz opisuje najpopularniejsze strategie i techniki stosowane przy ich tłumaczeniu. W drugim rozdziale zostały opisane realia świata wykreowanego przez Tolkiena. Ponadto przedstawiono genezę trylogii „Władca Pierścieni” oraz jej wersji filmowych. W części praktycznej dokonano analizy semantyczno-leksykalnej, jak również jakościowej i ilościowej, dwudziestu jeden wybranych nazw własnych, które pojawiają się w trylogii „Władca Pierścieni”. Dalsza część rozdziału trzeciego została poświęcona analizie, jak również wnioskom wynikającym z analizy.

This thesis presents the translation strategies and techniques of proper names used by translators in selected Polish and French translations of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The aim of this thesis is to compare the used strategies and techniques and to present trends in the translation of proper names. The theoretical part, consisting of two chapters, presents the definition of proper names, their characteristics, and describes the most popular strategies and techniques used in their translation. The second chapter describes the realities of the universe created by Tolkien. Furthermore, the genesis of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and its film versions is presented. The practical part presents a semantic and lexical analysis of twenty-one selected proper names appearing in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The remainder of the third chapter is devoted to the analysis, as well as the conclusions drawn from the analysis.

Ce mémoire présente les stratégies et techniques de traduction des noms employées par les traducteurs dans les traductions sélectionnées polonaises et françaises de la trilogie du Seigneur des Anneaux de J.R.R. Tolkien. Son objectif est de comparer ces stratégies et techniques et de dégager les tendances en matière de traduction des noms propres. La partie théorique, composée de deux chapitres, définit les noms propres, présente leurs caractéristiques et décrit les stratégies et techniques les plus courantes utilisées pour leur traduction. Le deuxième chapitre décrit l'univers créé par Tolkien et aborde la genèse de la trilogie du Seigneur des Anneaux et de ses adaptations cinématographiques. La partie pratique propose une analyse sémantique et lexicale de vingt et un noms propres sélectionnés apparaissant dans la trilogie, à la fois quantitative et qualitative, tandis que le reste du troisième chapitre est consacré à l'analyse, ainsi qu’aux conclusions tirées de cette analyse.
