Transgresja w twórczości kolektywu Slavs&Tatars

Celem niniejszej pracy jest zbadanie, w jaki sposób kolektyw Slavs&Tatars posługuje się kategorią transgresji jako narzędziem artystycznym. Transgresja została potraktowana nie jako akt burzenia, lecz także jako strategia przekraczania i negocjowania granic między mediami, językami, kodami kulturowymi oraz rejestrami wypowiedzi. Praca zmierza do wykazania, że praktyka artystyczna kolektywu nie służy potwierdzaniu jednej narracji ani tożsamości, tylko ujawnianiu napięć, nieoczywistych połączeń i wspólnych punktów odniesienia w różnych kulturach. Struktura rozprawy została oparta na trzech obszarach analizy: transgresji medialnej, dyskursywnej i kulturowej. Każdy z rozdziałów skupia się na innym wymiarze przekraczania granic, od formy dzieła, przez relację sztuki z wiedzą, po model wspólnoty kulturowej. Uzupełnieniem jest analiza stanu badań oraz zarys pojęciowy i tematyczny twórczości Slavs&Tatars. W efekcie podjętej analizy udało się wykazać, że transgresja stanowi konsekwentną i świadomą strategię działania kolektywu, która pozwala budować nowe modele myślenia o sztuce i tożsamości w świecie złożonych zależności kulturowych.

The aim of this dissertation is to examine how the Slavs&Tatars collective employs the category of transgression as an artistic tool. Transgression is treated here not merely as an act of disruption, but also as a strategy of crossing and negotiating boundaries between media, languages, cultural codes, and registers of expression. The study seeks to demonstrate that the collective’s artistic practice does not serve to affirm a single narrative or identity, but rather to reveal tensions, unexpected connections, and shared points of reference across different cultures. The structure of the dissertation is organized around three areas of analysis: medial, discursive, and cultural transgression. Each chapter focuses on a distinct dimension of boundary-crossing – from the form of the artwork, through the relationship between art and knowledge, to the model of cultural community. This is complemented by an overview of the state of research and a conceptual as well as thematic outline of Slavs&Tatars’ oeuvre. The analysis ultimately shows that transgression constitutes a consistent and deliberate strategy of the collective, enabling the construction of new models for thinking about art and identity within a world of complex cultural interrelations.
