El impacto de la pandemia de Covid-19 en las condiciones laborales de intérpretes: un análisis de los foros de discusión

Celem niniejszej pracy jest zbadanie wpływu pandemii Covid-19 na warunki pracy tłumaczy ustnych. Podejmuję próbę przyjrzenia się zmianom, jakie zaszły w miejscu, długości oraz sposobie wykonywania pracy przez tłumaczy ustnych podczas trwania pandemii. Część teoretyczna niniejszej publikacji poświęcona jest pojęciu tłumaczenia ustnego oraz terminom związanym z tą dziedziną. Ukazuję, w jaki sposób postęp technologiczny wpłynął na rozwój dziedziny tłumaczeń ustnych, a także wyjaśniam jak wyglądają konwencjonalne warunki pracy tłumaczy ustnych. Ponadto przedstawiam badania dotyczące zmian w warunkach pracy tłumaczy ustnych, które zaszły podczas pandemii Covid-19. W rozdziale poświęconym metodologii koncentruję się na zagadnieniu badań jakościowych, które to posłużą nam jako punkt wyjścia do przeprowadzenia późniejszej analizy. Dalsza część niniejszej pracy ma na celu ustalenie w jaki sposób pandemia wpłynęła na warunki pracy tłumaczy ustnych. W oparciu o analizę wpisów na forach dyskusyjnych dla tłumaczy ustnych, wyróżniam kilka kategorii związanych z ich warunkami pracy, aby wykazać, jak pandemia Covid-19 przyczyniła się do zmian w obrębie poszczególnych kategorii. Ostatnia część niniejszej pracy zawiera wnioski oraz wyniki uzyskane dzięki przeprowadzonej analizie. Na podstawie tych danych pokazuję, które aspekty warunków pracy tłumaczy ustnych zmieniły się podczas pandemii koronawirusa i czy wpisały się one na stałe w dziedzinę tłumaczeń ustnych.

The aim of this study is to examine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the working conditions of interpreters. In order to achieve this, we intend to examine the changes that have occurred in the place, duration and way of work of the interpreters during the pandemic. In the theoretical part of this paper we outline the concept of interpretation together with the terms relevant to this field. In the course of this study, we discuss how technological advances have influenced the development of the field of interpreting, and we present the conventional interpreters' working conditions. Furthermore, we present studies of the changes in interpreters' working conditions that occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic. In the methodology section, we focus on the topic of qualitative research, which will be used as a basis for the subsequent analysis. The following part of this paper is intended to find out the effects of the pandemic in terms of the working conditions of interpreters. On the basis of an analysis of the entries in the interpreters' discussion forums, we identify the different categories related to interpreters' working conditions, exposing how the pandemic outbreak has affected these categories. The final section of this study contains the conclusions and results obtained from the conducted analysis. It shows which aspects of interpreters' working conditions changed during the coronavirus pandemic and whether they have become a lasting feature of the interpreting landscape.

El presente trabajo tiene por su objetivo averiguar el impacto de la pandemia de Covid-19 en las condiciones laborales de intérpretes. Con este fin, intentamos examinar los cambios que se han producido en el lugar, la duración y el modo de trabajar de los intérpretes durante la pandemia. En la parte teórica del presente trabajo destacamos el concepto de la interpretación junto con los términos relevantes para este campo. Mostramos cómo los avances tecnológicos han influido en el desarrollo del ámbito de la interpretación y exponemos las condiciones de trabajo convencionales de intérpretes. Presentamos también los estudios de los cambios en las condiciones laborales de intépretes que se produjeron durante la pandemia de Covid-19. En la sección de metodología, nos centramos en el tema de la investigación cualitativa, la cual nos servirá de punto de partida para el análisis posterior. La siguiente parte de este trabajo tiene por objetivo averiguar el impacto de la pandemia en las condiciones laborales de intérpretes. Basándonos en un análisis de las entradas en los foros de discusión para intérpretes destacamos las distintas categorías relacionadas con las condiciones laborales de los intérpretes, para exponer cómo el brote pandémico ha afectado a dichas categorías. En la última sección, dedicada a las conclusiones, presentamos los resultados obtenidos en el análisis realizado. Mostramos los aspectos de las condiciones laborales de los intérpretes que se modificaron durante la pandemia del coronavirus y si se han consolidado como algo permanente en el panorama de la interpretación.
