The challenges for tax compliance in multinationals within the SAP environment

The process of implementing global ERP Systems in multinationals has been widely discussed in scientific literature, however, few researchers have addressed specialized modules for tax compliance. This issue is becoming more and more crucial for multinationals, therefore more research on this subject is required. Business entities that have introduced computerized tax compliance systems achieve a substantial competitive advantage over other market players. Thus, the aim of this paper is to analyse barriers to the implementation of SAP (the most common ERP) tax compliance modules and to present the results of in-depth surveys with professionals using this system. This article also discusses the role of SAP as a tool for tax compliance and the most important challenges of its implementation process.
