Filautia w pismach św. Maksyma Wyznawcy

The paper is an attempt to present synthetically the concept of filautia (self-love) in ascetical writings of saint Maximus the Confessor. According to this theologian, filautia is a type of sinful affection to oneself. The paper’s author presents the passage from such affection to salvific agape (charity) and shows that filautia can be treated not only as mother of all passions, but also as a beneficial force of spiritual transformation.
