Zbiór numizmatyczny Uniwersytetu Charkowskiego: krótkie wprowadzenie do historii strat
Abstrakt (EN)
The numismatic collection of Kharkiv University originates from the time of its foundation. At a time, it was one of the largest numismatic collections of the Russian Empire, which included collection of the Radziwiłł family confiscated by A.P. Chichagow in 1812 from Nesvizh Castle and handed over to Kharkov University in 1814. This publication is devoted to several plots associated with the losses suffered by the Numismatic Cabinet of Kharkiv University. The first losses may have been associated with the events of the Civil War of 1918-1922, as well as with the University reorganization in the early 1920s. The collection suffered big losses following the results of the Polish-Soviet war of 1919-1921, when, according to the terms of the Riga Treaty 1921, historical and art objects removed from its territory during the Russian section were to be returned to Poland. Finally, the last great losses, which actually finalized the history of the Numismatic Cabinet, occurred during the Second World War.
