Abstrakt (EN)

The recovery of Galician theater (lost since the beginning of the XVth century and inserted into the popular theatre since the Middle Ages) started by the end of the XIXth century, as the part of a programme of the regeneration of national Galician consciousness. Focusing on its formation, the article tries a raid throughout the history of the Galician theatre since its origins until the XXIst century, going beyond the years of 1936 (the year when the Civil Spanish War put an end to the manifestations of the Galician culture), of 1973 (the date of renaissance of the Galician theatre in Ribadavia and of the competitions of texts, organized by the Abrente Cultural Association), of 1981 (the year when, through the Statute of Autonomy, the Galician was recognized as the co-official language of the Autonomous Community), coming to its final constitution related with the new courses of the dramatic environment in Galicia within the last decades, within the specific character of the theatre cultivated in the Lusophone cultural space.
