The evolution of China's policy towards climate change under Xi Jingping leadership

Climate change affects human survival and various aspects of human life, making it an increasingly significant issue in the international community. This article will primarily explore the relevant topics of China as the world's second-largest economy and one of the major emitters in the field of climate change. Specifically, the main purpose of this article will attempt to answer the following questions: what is the issue of climate change? what roles do China, the United States, and Europe play on the international stage regarding this issue, and what common challenges do they face and how it overcome? Over the past 30 years, which factors have influenced China's government climate change policies and how? What approach will the Chinese government employ to achieve its set climate governance objectives? In order to provide more comprehensive answers, the information and data in this article are not only derived from citing various scholars' papers but also place significant emphasis on referencing official public information from the United Nations, the European Union, and various international organizations. Regarding content related to changes in China's domestic policies, specific attention has been given to referencing official information from the Chinese government's official website and key government officials. Examples include the China National Energy Administration, Zhongli Ding (Technology Advisor to the Chinese Delegation at the Copenhagen Climate Conference, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences), and Lin Yifu (Consultant to the State Council of China, former Chief Economist of the World Bank).
