Przedstawiono ścieżkę jaką przeszło to państwo, które dzięki reformom ustrojowym i gospodarczym po upadku reżimu frankistowskiego, stworzyło solidne podstawy do akcesji oraz skutecznego wykorzystania funduszy unijnych. Celem pracy jest potwierdzenie, że Hiszpania nie tylko dogoniła państwa Europy Zachodniej pod względem rozwoju, lecz także stała się aktywnym uczestnikiem procesu kształtowania polityk unijnych, szczególnie w zakresie polityki spójności, zagranicznej i bezpieczeństwa. Praca potwierdziła znaczenie silnych instytucji i zdolności administracyjnych w skutecznej absorpcji środków UE.

The paper ‘Membership of the Kingdom of Spain in the European Union’ deals with the historical, economic and systemic conditions that had to be met by the Kingdom of Spain in order to become a full member of the European Union. It also presents Spain's perspective and its role in European structures, including its presidency of the Council of the European Union. The third issue addressed is the perspective of the European Union and the role of the Kingdom of Spain in shaping selected European Union policies. The following paper presents how the Kingdom of Spain has benefited and continues to benefit from its membership in European structures and skilfully uses areas of interest that play an important role in its own national policy to shape European Union policies in many areas. It presents the path taken by this country, which, thanks to political and economic reforms after the fall of the Franco regime,created a solid foundation for accession and the effective use of EU funds. The aim of the paper is to confirm that Spain has not only caught up with the Western European countries in terms of development, but has also become an active participant in the process of shaping EU policies, particularly in the areas of cohesion, foreign and security policy. The thesis confirmed the importance of strong institutions and administrative capacity in the effective absorption of EU funds.
