Orizzonti d’attesa: sulla ricezione di Leopardi in Polonia dall’Ottocento a oggi

Drawing upon studies on the reception theory, this essay aims at reconstructing the horizons of expectation on Leopardi’s poetry in Poland. It investigates various approaches to his oeuvre according to different historical periods. In doing so, it emphasises the role of different agents involved in the process of closing the distance between the author and the audience. The article analyses Polish translations, critical essays, poetry and narrative by Polish authors that refer to Leopardi from 1858 until now and indicates ways of understanding a more widespread perception of Leopardi’s poetry throughout transnational works including also most recent translations and critical essays.
