Poza formą i treścią. W stronę materialności

Artykuł przedstawia rozważania na temat Leviathana, filmu zrealizowanego przez Luciena Castaing-Taylora i Vérénę Paravel (2012), antropologów współtworzących Sensory Ethnography Lab (Uniwerytet Harvarda). Autor proponuje, by traktować film jako antropologię nowej generacji, zrywającą z tradycyjnym Geetzowskim „opisem gęstym”, nastawieniem antropocentrycznym, ale też dominującą w myśleniu zachodnim reprezentacją. Kładzie nacisk na wagę materialności/materiałów, zmysłowości, procesualności, ale też nierozróżnialności aktorów ludzkich i poza-ludzkich. Ważnymi dla prowadzonego wywodu autorami stają się G. Deleuze & F. Guattari oraz T. Ingold – być może zdanie tego ostatniego – Zaangażowanie w świat wiąże się z odczuwaniem go, a nie zamieszkiwaniem w świecie sensu – mogłoby być szczególnym wprowadzeniem do analizowanego filmu.

Beyond form and content. Towards materiality The article provides a reflection on Leviathan, a film made by Lucien Castaing-Taylor and Véréna Paravel (2012), anthropologists associated with the Sensory Ethnography Lab (Harvard University). The author proposes to refer to the film as a new type anthropology, breaking with the traditional Geetzian "thick description" and anthropocentric perspective, but also with the philosophy of representation which is dominant in Western world. It emphasizes the importance of materiality/materials, sensuality, processuality, but also the indistinguishability of human and non-human actors. G. Deleuze & F. Guattari, as well as T. Ingold become important authors for the argument – perhaps the latter's sentence: To engage with things is to sense the world, not to inhabit a world of sense could be a kind of introduction to the film.
