Uwarunkowania rozwoju wydm przednich na plażach piaszczystych (na przykładzie bariery łebskiej, wybrzeże Morza Bałtyckiego, Polska)

Foredunes are aeolian accumulation bedforms that form under prevailing onshore winds, when sand transported landwards is trapped by vegetation. Main factors affecting their development at the sea coasts include: effective wind regime, sand availability determined by beach width and elevation (controlled by nearshore processes), sand transport rate on the beach (controlled by wind speed, the available fetch distance imposed by beach geometry and wind direction, beach-dune topography responsible for topographic forcing and steering of the airflow in beach-foredune system, beach roughness and moisture), and type of vegetation (controlled by climate). The article presents the complex interaction of these factors and discusses their impact on foredune size and shape and the rate of their development. Referred data and examples come from the tideless Baltic sea coast (Łeba Barrier).
