Specyfika zawodu strażaka oraz diagnoza największych problemów i wyzwań związanych z zatrudnieniem w Państwowej Straży Pożarnej

Niniejsza praca ma na celu przestawienie charakterystyki zawodu i specyfiki pracy strażaka w strukturach Państwowej Straży Pożarnej w Polsce oraz wskazanie głównych wyzwań, z jakimi mierzą się funkcjonariusze w codziennej służbie. Profesja ta wiąże się z dużym  poczuciem odpowiedzialności oraz wysokim poziomem ryzyka związanego z bezpośrednim zagrożeniem życia i zdrowia. W ich konsekwencji funkcjonariusze PSP są grupą szczególnie narażoną na stres. Od kandydatów wymagana jest zarówno doskonała kondycja fizyczna, jak i odporność psychiczna, dlatego proces rekrutacji składa się z kilku etapów. W pracy licencjackiej oparłam się zarówno na materiałach źródłowych jak i na wynikach własnego badania, przedstawiłam zasady rekrutacji, ścieżki awansu oraz główne zadania PSP, opisałam również specyfikę organizacji służby. W analizie poruszyłam najczęściej wskazywane problemy, w tym wysoki poziom stresu, zagrożenie zdrowia, przeciążenie obowiązkami. Pomimo wysokiego poziomu prestiżu społecznego, zawód strażaka wiąże się z trudnościami, na które należy zwrócić uwagę, by zwiększyć efektywność i skuteczność działań. Wnioski płynące z pracy wskazują potrzebę dalszego rozwoju i doskonalenia instytucji Państwowej Straży Pożarnej. Mogą również posłużyć jako punkt wyjścia do dalszych badań nad poprawą funkcjonowania służb ratowniczych w Polsce.

This thesis aims to present the characteristics of the profession and the specifics of the work of a firefighter within the structures of the State Fire Service in Poland, as well as to indicate the main challenges that officers face in their daily service. This profession is associated with a strong sense of responsibility and a high level of risk related to the direct threat to life and health. As a consequence, State Fire Service officers are a group particularly exposed to stress. Candidates are required to have both excellent physical condition and mental resilience, which is why the recruitment process consists of several stages. In this bachelor’s thesis, I based my work both on source materials and on the results of my own research. I presented the recruitment rules, promotion paths, and the main tasks of the State Fire Service, and I also described the specifics of the organization of service. In the analysis, I addressed the most frequently indicated problems, including high levels of stress, health hazards, and overload of duties. Despite the high level of social prestige, the profession of a firefighter involves difficulties that should be taken into account in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. The conclusions drawn from this work indicate the need for further development and improvement of the State Fire Service institution. They may also serve as a starting point for further research on improving the functioning of rescue services in Poland.
