Arte de los tatuajes en la cultura rapanui

Tematem niniejszej pracy jest sztuka tatuażu na Wyspie Wielkanocnej, jako integralna część kultury i dziedzictwa Rapa Nui. Główne zagadnienia poruszane w rozprawie to historia tatuowania ciała oraz analiza poszczególnych wzorów. W zamyśle zbadania okoliczności tworzenia tatuaży oraz ich znaczeń zostały wykorzystane zarówno relacje podróżników pochodzące z XVIII wieku jak i nowsze źródła informacji. Zamieszczone ilustracje są podstawą badań nad cechami tatuaży i przejawianego stylu. Dodatkowo przeprowadzony wywiad z lokalnym tatuażystą Mokomae jest elementem uzupełniającym w kontekście aktualnej sytuacji sztuki tatuażu na wyspie. Celem pracy jest przedstawienie głównych tendencji i motywów w tej dziedzinie oraz idei towarzyszących Rapanujczykom w tworzeniu tatuaży w oparciu o historię, tradycję i kulturę Wyspy Wielkanocnej.

The topic of this thesis is the art of tattooing on Easter Island, as an integral part of the Rapa Nui culture and heritage. The main issues discussed in the thesis are the history of body tattoos and the analysis of individual designs. With the intention of investigating the circumstances of creation of tattoos and their meanings, both the reports of travelers from the 18th century and more recent sources of information were used. Included illustrations are the basis of research on the characteristics of tattoos and manifested style. In addition, an interview with a local tattoo artist Mokomae is a complementary element in the context of the current situation of tattoo art on the island. The purpose of the thesis is to present the main trends and motifs in this field and the ideas accompanying the Rapanui in the creation of tattoos based on the history, tradition and culture of Easter Island.

El tema del presente trabajo es el arte de los tatuajes en la Isla de Pascua, como parte integral de la cultura y el patrimonio de Rapa Nui. Las principales cuestiones abordadas en la tesis son la historia del tatuaje corporal y el análisis de los diseños individuales. Con la intención de investigar las circunstancias de la creación de los tatuajes y sus significados, se utilizaron tanto relatos de viajeros del siglo XVIII como fuentes de información más recientes. Las ilustraciones incluidas son la base de la investigación sobre las características de los tatuajes y el estilo reflejado. Además, la entrevista realizada con el tatuador local Mokomae es un elemento complementario en el contexto de la situación actual del arte del tatuaje en la isla. El propósito del trabajo es presentar las principales tendencias y motivos en este campo, así como las ideas que acompañaban a los Rapanui en la creación de los tatuajes a partir de la historia, la tradición y la cultura de la Isla de Pascua.
