Obraz toksycznej męskości na albumie Kendricka Lamara Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers

W pracy skupiam się przede wszystkim na analizie lirycznej albumu muzycznego Kendricka Lamara „Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. Projekt badam pod kątem wyłaniającego się z niego obrazu toksycznej męskości. Pozycja rzeczonego rapera oraz jego pochodzenie stanowią dla mnie punkt wyjścia do refleksji nad obrazem męskości, który nieustannie ewoluuje w USA i afroamerykańskim rapie. Kulturoznawcza interpretacja tego projektu stanowi także okazję do prześledzenia zmian w podejściu do zachowań i przekonań, które coraz częściej określa się mianem toksycznej męskości.

In this paper, I focus particularly on the lyrical analysis of Kendrick Lamar's album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. I examine the project in terms of the image of toxic masculinity that emerges. The rapper's status and his background provide a starting point for me to reflect on the image of masculinity that is constantly evolving in USA and African-American rap. The cultural studies interpretation of this record also provides an opportunity to trace changes in attitudes towards the behaviours and beliefs that are increasingly described as toxic masculinity.
