Land use and ecosystem services temporal changes in the urban sprawl zone, Warsaw, Poland

The aim of this study was to evaluate the temporal and spatial land use and ecosystem services changes in the area of urban sprawl on a local scale. For the study a suburban area of Warsaw was selected, which is bordered by a large forest complex – Kampinos Forest, enshrined in Kampinos National Park. In the first stage of the study, change in land cover and land use in the years 1972-2007 and changes in landscape pattern on the basis of archival and current aerial photos in the years 1972, 1987, 2007 for 4 research sites were rated. In the second stage, change over time of ecosystem services with selected indicator was rated.
