ON THE PROBLEM OF POLISH RECEPTION OF UKRAINIAN BAROQUE LITERATURE The paper considers the most important stages of Polish reception of Ukrainian baroque literature. The problem has a long history, dating back to the times of Kievan Rus. A very bad influence was made by a prohibition imposed by the totalitarian regime on studies of baroque in Poland, an obstacle that was felt even more in Ukraine. The legacy of the Ukrainian 16-18th century literature faced a hard way back to its native European environment. A major driving force were scientific contacts, Slavic congresses, international conferences, research done by P. Levin, S. Коzak, R. Luzny, D. Bercoff, M. Lesiv, etc., as well as inclusion of works of Ukrainian 17-18th century authors into Polish anthologies (e.g. Helikon Sarmacki. Wątki i tematy polskiej poezji barokowej). The Polish reception of Ukrainian baroque shows both unique and common characteristics of baroque culture.
