Social Media Platforms Algorithms – a Useful Tool or a Threat to Democracy?

The emergence of social media platforms was associated with huge, even utopian hopes that humanity received a tool for conducting the democratic debate. The development of these platforms has made them to become mass media. In turn, the processing of large amounts of data has led to the necessity of advanced management of information displayed to users. To this end, algorithms were used to learn the behaviors of platform users and based on learned formulas giving subsequent content to users. However, they have some limitations. Consequently, it is not possible to access a wide spectrum of different views, and the debate polarizes around opposing positions. Polarization can sometimes lead to real conflicts, like the conflict in Myanmar. What should you do to prevent it?
