Rozwój i przekształcenia struktury funkcjonalno-przestrzennej Kielc

Praca przedstawia pogłębioną analizę studium przypadku rozwoju przestrzennego miasta Kielce w pełnym zakresie historycznym od czasów powstania osady w średniowieczu do stanu aktualnego w 2025 r. Analiza obejmuje aspekt rozwoju struktury funkcjonalno-przestrzennej miasta w kontekście przeszłości, teraźniejszości i bliskiej przyszłości. Pierwsza część pracy opiera się na analizie dostępnej literatury. Jest to szczegółowy opis początkowej fazy rozwoju przestrzennego miasta średniowiecznego, w którym odtworzono kolejność powstawania zabudowy i wytyczania ulic między XI a XV wiekiem. Następnie opisane zostały najważniejsze etapy rozwojowe miasta do końca XX w. Wyszczególniono istotne dla historii wydarzenia, które wpłynęły na układ urbanistyczny miasta, rozmieszczenie poszczególnych funkcji przestrzennych i kształtowały okresy wzmożonego lub spowolnionego rozwoju. Odtworzona została kolejność powstania osiedli i dzielnic mieszkaniowych oraz zmiany granic Kielc. W drugiej części pracy znajduje się analiza aktualnych dokumentów dotyczących kwestii przestrzennych miasta, takich jak: studium uwarunkowań i kierunków zagospodarowania przestrzennego, gminny program rewitalizacji, tzw. uchwała krajobrazowa oraz uchwała dotycząca lokalnych standardów urbanistycznych. Ta część pracy zakończona została analizą trzech wybranych przykładów przestrzeni w Kielcach dotyczącą spójności tworzenia dokumentów planistycznych i zarządzania przestrzenią. Treść właściwą pracy zamyka rozdział traktujący o stanie aktualnym oraz wizji przyszłości miasta. Zawiera on przegląd wybranych, najnowszych inwestycji kubaturowych, które wskazują na obecne kierunki rozwoju Kielc. Plany i pomysły władz miasta na jego przyszłość obrazuje wywiad przeprowadzony z przedstawicielką urzędu miasta na temat projektowanego planu ogólnego.

The thesis presents a comprehensive case study of the spatial development of the city of Kielce, covering its full historical trajectory from the establishment of the medieval settlement to its contemporary state in 2025. The analysis encompasses the evolution of the city’s functional and spatial structure within the broader context of its past, present, and anticipated near future.

The first part of the thesis is founded on an extensive review of the existing scholarly literature. It provides a detailed account of the formative phase of the city’s spatial development in the Middle Ages, reconstructing the sequence in which the built environment emerged and the street network was delineated between the 11th and 15th centuries. Subsequently, the thesis outlines the principal stages of urban development up to the end of the 20th century. Particular attention is devoted to key historical events that influenced the city’s urban layout, shaped the distribution of spatial functions, and determined periods of accelerated or diminished growth. The reconstruction also includes the chronology of the establishment of residential estates and districts as well as the evolution of Kielce’s administrative boundaries.

The second part of the thesis comprises an analysis of current planning and spatial governance documents pertaining to the city, including the Study of Conditions and Directions of Spatial Development, the Municipal Revitalisation Programme, the Landscape Resolution, and the Resolution on Local Urban Standards. This section concludes with an examination of three selected urban areas in Kielce, focusing on the coherence between planning documents and the practical management of urban space.

The core analytical component of the thesis is followed by a chapter addressing the contemporary condition of the city and its prospective development. This chapter presents an overview of selected recent architectural and urban investments that exemplify current directions in Kielce’s spatial evolution. Furthermore, the vision and strategic intentions of the municipal authorities regarding the city’s future are elucidated through an interview conducted with a representative of the City Office concerning the preparation of the forthcoming general plan.
